Photography and Lighting Workshop--How to Light, Shoot & Edit like a Pro for
Artists:
In this one day Photography Workshop,
participants will leave with the ability to document work with continuous
lighting, setup professional backgrounds and lighting, and
understand various camera settings with either digital or film based
cameras. This workshop will emphasize the digital media and cover the
techniques necessary for creating prints, slides, and digital images for
such applications as juried exhibitions, Zapplication, art fairs,
documentation, grant applications, catalogues and the web. The first part of the workshop will be a
photo shoot of participants artwork while the second part of the workshop
Tony will give a slide show covering related issues and demonstrate editing
techniques on participant's work in Photoshop Elements. Tony will also discuss some
of the commercial products available for professionally photographing your

♦Digital Image Editing Workshop 101
Now you have the images, what do you do
with them? In this workshop I will be demonstrating in real time the
entire process of taking an image and editing it to prepare the image for:
slides, jurying, Zapplication, JAS, web sites, print (i.e. brochures,
newsletters) grant/fellowship applications, and anything else you are interested in. If a computer
lab is available (or bring your own laptop), participants will be able to follow along with the
instructor and may bring their own images to work with or one provided by
the instructor. I will be using Photoshop CS3 as well as Elements and
possibly some open source image editing software such as the Gimp. I can
also use any other digital image editing software if there is one that is the groups'
preference. When I speak of editing, I speak of:
brightness/contrast adjustments, cloning out jaggies, adjusting curves, and
many other functions of Photoshop to get your images to the level the need to
be to be competitive--and doing these actions in the correct way to preserve
image integrity. Participants will leave with a clear understanding of
the most efficient and correct way to edit their images for many uses so
that they leave with a working knowledge of how to edit their images for
real world applications.
♦How
to Build your own Website Workshop 101
In this workshop I will be demonstrating
in real time the entire process of creating a web page from scratch and from
a template. This will involve the following: creating a blank
page, establishing borders, headers, footers, frames or no frames,
generating text, creating hyperlinks, importing images, importing an image
gallery, setting up the gallery, and too many other things we are going to
do to list them. If a computer lab is available, participants
will be able to follow along with the instructor and may bring their own
content to work with or use what is provided by the instructor. I will
be using Dreamweaver and FrontPage 2002 to build sites and possibly some
open source website creation software. Participants will leave with the
understanding of how to build a basic website and what is involved in
setting one up, working with your ISP, a host provider, registering your
name, sub-domains, etc.

various throwing, altering and forming
