♦Photo Workshops For Artists With Tony Ferguson ♦One Day Photography Workshop with Tony Ferguson: Photo Shoot & Basic Image Editing for Artists: In this one day Photography Workshop, participants will leave with the ability to document work with continuous lighting, setup professional backgrounds and lighting, and understand various camera settings with either digital or film based cameras. This workshop will emphasize the digital media and cover the techniques necessary for creating prints, slides, and digital images for such applications as juried exhibitions, zapplication, art fairs, documentation, grant applications, catalogues and the web. The first part of the workshop will be a photo shoot of participants artwork while the second part of the workshop Tony will give a slide show covering related issues and demonstrate editing techniques on participant's work in Photoshop Elements. Tony will also discuss some of the commercial products available for professionally photographing your artwork and will bring a lighting setup specifically for 3D as well as 2D artists. Note: Participants are welcome to bring one art work (less than 24” in height in either direction). Please note: If the host or participants would like to arrange to schedule more pictures taken of their artwork, please contact Tony for a post workshop photo shoot details and rates.
♦Two Day Photography Workshop: Photo Shoot, Image Editing, Web Sites & Marketing for Artists: The first day is entirely like the one day workshop with the exception of participants bringing more work for the photo shoot (up to 4 pieces). Day 2 involves answering the question: once you have the professional image, what do you do with it? Day 2 entails basic to advanced image editing techniques using PhotoShop Elements where Tony demonstrates everything and more of what you need to know to prepare your images (Tony will use the images of participants' work from day 2 as well have various examples) for all applications: juried art exhibitions including an overview of zapplication, publications, preparing & optimizing images for the web, print, slides, grants proposals, etc. The second part of Day 2 will involve taking the images from the photo shoot and demonstrating the building of a basic website. This part of the workshop will give participants a basic idea of how to setup and maintain their own website if they wish and the knowledge to make better business decisions regarding either their building or the hiring of a web designer to build their site. Tony will cover a variety of organizational, layout and design issues as he builds a group site before your eyes. Please note: If the host or participants would like to arrange to schedule more pictures taken of their artwork, please contact Tony for a post workshop photo shoot details and rates. NOTE: Should you have different needs, please feel free to send me an email with your ideas or requests.
At the above link you will find examples of Artists from the 2005 Vegas workshop. I shot these works as part of the workshop where I explained how to light, camera settings, ways of tweaking, etc. Each participant in my workshops receives images shot at the workshop as well as useful items such as images, diagrams, lighting setups etc. from my slide presentation.
♦Clay Workshops With Ceramic Artist Tony Ferguson Tony will demonstrate various throwing, altering and forming methods including faceting, interior/exterior manipulation, sculptural treatments with throwing techniques that emphasize technique over strength. Tony will be making both traditional functional pottery as well as demonstrate ways in which to push the work into the sculptural realm. Demonstrations will cover the use of the wheel and construction of forms by altering work both on and off the wheel as well as multiple part pieces thrown and put together. Tony will have tea bowls, tea cups and other work for sale at the workshop including a new tool line he has developed.
